Objection! – 1 John 2:2

1 John 2:2  2He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. (NIV)

Did you think about the question from last week? Do you know where you are going when you shuffle off this mortal coil? No one is righteous (Romans 3:10) and all of has sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). So if you don’t want to go to HFIL (Home For Infinite Losers), a furnace of fire where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:42) you might need a good attorney. In a litigious society like ours you will need an attorney that will fight for you and save you from eternal damnation.

My first suggestion could be Phoenix Wright! The famous attorney from the Nintendo DS/3DS games.

Could you just imagine that God is right in front of you and letting you know that you are going to HFIL and a lone voice yells out of nowhere and screams in that Holy Court! OBJECTION! He gathers the evidence, all the good deeds you have done in your life and you hope that all the evidence would win God over and make him see that you deserve to go to Heaven but no matter how much he wags his finger, no matter how passionate Phoenix can be it would be a case he can never win. However there is one person who can win…

Right when God could throw the book at you and send you to Hell the only person that could throw an OBJECTION! that matters is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Jesus said:

John 14:6 – 6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (NIV)

Matthew 10:32-33 – 32“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven. (NIV)

So now we know that we need Jesus to speak upon our behalf if we are going to escape the deadly inferno of Hell that awaits us for all of eternity. We read above that no amount of good works can save you and only Jesus can allow you freedom from damnation and we must acknowledge Christ Jesus before men so we would not be disowned by God in heaven. The only way that we are saved is through Jesus Christ. We are only saved by God’s grace and our faith in Jesus.

Ephesians 2:8-9 – 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9not by works, so that no one can boast.  (NIV)

If you go back to the Easter post you would have seen a video about the thief that was on the across from Jesus on the cross you remember the short conversation that Jesus and the thief had.

Luke 23:42-43 – 42Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (NIV)

That is a man saved by faith in Jesus Christ and God’s grace. A thief that in every worldly way deserved the punishment he received on Earth but is still able to go to paradise for eternity because he believed in Jesus. And we know that thief is in heaven because God would not lie. It is not in his character.

Hebrews 6:18 – 18God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. (NIV)

Psalm 111:7 – 7The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy. (NIV)

So with this information what will you do? While you still have time to truly think about it will be be collecting all of the money you can to get Phoenix Wright to represent you in the Court of Eternal Life? Jesus was able to get a thief that in our eyes deserve death but gave him access to heaven for eternal life. I think you know who you need to represent you. All you need to do in this life is to represent Him. You must repent of your sins and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 20:21– 21I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our LORD Jesus. (NIV)

Heavenly Father, I am a sinner that can only be saved by Your grace. Please forgive me from my sins and trespasses against you. I believe that Jesus Christ is the only One that can save me from the fate that I deserve. As the thief believed in Jesus and was saved I will believe in Jesus also and trust Him with all my heart and follow Him and follow Your Word. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
