Teen Titans Go! according to Cartoon Network is your new favorite show. Oddly enough it has become one of my favorite shows. It’s humor is filled with double entendre that is slap stick enough for the kids but funny to children of the 80s.
In Season 2, Episode 16 , “Vegetables”, we find that Beast Boy gets the Teen Titans to join him in being a vegetarian. They humorously get into the best shapes and able to take down the bad guys in the episode with ease. Well then it takes an odd turn for the worst when they turn green and started to become a minion of a giant carrot name Vegetor.
Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (ESV)
“In fearful day, in raging night, With strong hearts full, our souls ignite. When all seems lost in the War of Light, Look to the stars, for hope burns bright!” While the Green Lanterns are powered by will the Blue Lanterns are powered by hope of the people the seek to help out and save. One of the greatest heroes of the Blue Lantern Corp is profiled in the picture above. His name is Saint Walker, he epitomizes what the power of hope can do not only for yourself but for anyone and everyone.
Saint Walker, was a priest on his home planet of Astonia. There his family and his entire planet was doomed because the son that have blessed them with warmth and light was about to die. His people were fraught with fear and anxiety because they were all going to destroyed. However, Saint Walker managed to calm his people and give them hope in the face of their extension. With his act the Blue Lantern ring was bestowed upon him because he was able to bring hope to the masses. He then used the power of the ring to reverse the age of their sun 8.9 billion years. Hope not only saved himself but millions of people, animals, and various other species of flora and fauna. This take me to the bible in the book of Jeremiah. 2 Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (NLT)
“In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might Beware my power–Green Lantern’s light!” That beautiful oath is of those from the Green Lantern Corp. In the comics we follow a few Green Lanterns but the most famous one is Hal Jordan, a test pilot for Ferris Aircraft. Even without his ring he was known to be a fearless pilot. That boldness is what caused him to be chosen by Abin Sur’s ring to become the Green Lantern of Earth. The Green Lanterns are powered by willpower and the more will they have the stronger they can be. However a comic book character is nothing without a nemesis.
The Sinestro Corps or Yellow Lantern Corps, head by the sinister Thaal Sinestro, is one of the early archnemesis of the Green Lantern Corp. While the Green Lanterns are powered by the user’s will the Sinestro Corp is powered by the fear of others. According to the Apostle Paul, as he writes to Timothy, God would never let us power the Sinestro Corps ring. Here’s why. Continue reading “In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night – 2 Timothy 1:7”→
