I have fallen in love with the show Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. It’s an awesome fantasy anime and manga from the writer and illustrator Shinobu Ohtaka. It follows Aladdin, not the King of Thieves but a Magi and his friends Alibaba and Morgiana. Each of them have their own situations that they are dealing with in life. Morgiana a powerful fighter and ex-slave looking for home, Aladdin who wants to help his friend Alibaba as much as he can. Which leads to the story of our third character Alibaba.
Alibaba is one of the princes of the Balbadd Kingdom, a fictional kingdom in this story that has been ravaged with an unforgivable caste system that left many in the slums or junkyard of the city. The King had three sons but what made Alibaba special is that he was raised in those slums and taught how to be part of nobility. His other sons were raised in their nobility and doesn’t know and understand the plight of the people.
As the King was sick he chose Alibaba as his successor of his rule of the Balbadd Kingdom because he was not corrupted or weak minded like his brothers. He believed he was perfectly chosen to guide the kingdom into prosperity with a leader that the people can believe in and will have the people’s best interest in mind. It made me think of someone else in the bible that when he was approached with a proposition to help the masses and save his people who suffered he turned it down. And it wasn’t a dying King who made the request for this man. It was from a God who spoke through a burning bush.
