Opening the Fifth Gate – Romans 5:3-5

Romans 5:3-5 – Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Rock Lee opening the 5th Chakra Gate

When reading this there was a character that comes to mind that exemplified this scripture. His name is Rock Lee, from the anime and manga Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto. In all of the characters from the manga Rock Lee was the person that many people including myself could identify myself with. While many of the characters in the show were gifted with the use of ninjutsu or genjutsu, special abilities that are mystical in effect and uses. He is only able to use taijutsu or martial arts.

To compensate for his weaknesses in two area he was taught by his sensei, Mighty Guy, how to open the chakra gates to increase his strength and speed but he can only use it to protect his ninja way and to protect the people he loves. He was told that he must be careful to open those gates because no one can normally survive the opening of the eighth chakra gate. When it comes to friendship there’s no anime that comes to my mind more than Naruto. This is the story that follows the titular character Naruto Uzumaki. Naruto is a coming age story about a kid who was actually the hero of the village because he alone carries the weight of withholding the Nine-tails Fox Demon, Kurama inside his body. The problem is that since the people of the village remember the destruction that the Nine-tails Fox caused to the village they did not see him as a hero as his father wanted but as a monster. Yet through grit, perseverance, and great attitude he was able to find friends in his team led by his squad leader, Kakashi Hatake. Known as Cell Team 7, his team consisted of Sakura Haruno (his love interest), Sasuke Uchiha (his rival), and himself.

Through trials and tribulations Naruto have found that they are two sides of the same coin. They were both orphans and they both carried a large weight on their shoulders. However how they handled that weight varied and set them on a path that separated them. Sauske, in order to get stronger, left with the enemy Orochimaru. In all of the chaos Naruto made a promise, he will bring him back.  Continue reading “I’ll Bring Him Back – Proverbs 18:24”
